Embattled music producer Sean "Diddy" Combs has spoken out about the recently released hotel surveillance footage that exposed his abusive behavior towards his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.

In the video, Diddy apologized for his actions, noting that his behavior was "inexcusable" and that he sought professional help after the incident. He also emphasized that he is "sorry" and "committed" to being a "better man" every day.

On Sunday, the rapper took to his Instagram page to share a video recording of himself directly addressing the disturbing clip of him assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie.

The video was recently released by CNN and featured Diddy shoving, kicking, and dragging Cassie while they were lodged at a hotel in 2016. It has since gone viral on social media, causing many to condemn Diddy and even call for his arrest.

However, in the video clip, Diddy has decided to own up to his actions, noting how "sorry" he is for his past actions.

The rapper said, "It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was f--cd up. I mean, I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior [in] that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I'm disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it, I'm disgusted now."

He continued, "I went, and I sought out professional help. Had to go into therapy. Had to go into rehab. Had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry. But I'm committed to be a better man each and every day. And I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry."

Social Media Users React To Diddy's Apology

As expected, many people are not buying Diddy's apology, pointing out that the musician is only saying he is "sorry" because the video was released.

One person said, "And only now do you realize your mistake? It's too late brother, if I understand correctly had to first have everything collapse around you before you realize that you're sorry? Is Cassie not crazy anymore? You're funny."

Another noted, "Not accepted you are just doing it because you got caught, I am so sorry for your children particularly your daughters that love you."

Diddy's Gruesome Assault On Cassie

The viral hotel surveillance footage featured an enraged Diddy viciously attacking the R&B singer after she tried to leave their hotel room after what appeared to be a lover spat.

The shocking scenes started with a barely clothed Diddy rushing after Cassie, who had hurriedly walked to the hotel's elevator. Upon the music mogul reaching her, he seized her roughly by the neck and forcefully pushed her to the ground some distance away from the elevator.

Subsequently, he delivered a brutal kick to her body before swiftly retrieving the singer's belongings. After that, Diddy violently kicked Cassie again and then dragged her back down the hallway by her hoodie. He was later seen angrily throwing a vase at Cassie while sitting on a chair.

Cassie's Lawyer Called The Video 'Gut-Wrenching'

The brutal video of Diddy beating Cassie matches some of the incidents described by the singer in her bombshell lawsuit last year.

Cassie's lawyer also confirmed his client was the woman in the video, noting: "The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light."

Last year, Cassie's scathing lawsuit against Diddy was settled very quickly. A New York court dismissed the suit after the parties had come to an agreement. The case was dismissed "with prejudice and without costs or fees to either party. "

Due to the type of dismissal, the singer won't be able to file the suit ever again. It would have to be based on different accusations with supporting evidence. The million-dollar settlement was announced just a day after the lawsuit was filed and made public.

Why The LA County DA Can Not Prosecute Diddy

Despite concerned social media users asking for charges to be brought against Diddy, it has been revealed that that would likely not happen. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office revealed that the timing of the video coming to light might prevent them from throwing the book at Diddy.

"If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge as the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted," read a statement from the agency, where they also described the video as "extremely disturbing and difficult to watch."

They also claimed that the police had yet to inform them of bringing a case against the music mogul but "encouraged" any victims or witnesses to reach out to the Bureau of Victims Services.
