Five Nights at Shrek's Hotel is an indie horror parody game made by RenderPi.

Night 1[]

The game starts with the protagonist who left their house and moved into a new city. They don't have enough money for a new house, so they decided to stay at Shrek's hotel so they could afford the money they need to buy a new house. Once they go to Shrek's hotel, the scene will pan down to show the sign "Shrek's Hotel" with the severed head of an unknown ogre on it then to the doors.

Once the protagonist enters, Shrek will be at the front desk between two doors. The door on the left of him is the door to the bathroom and the door on the right is the door to the rooms. On the left wall, there is a potted plant and another door. There is also a working ceiling fan. When the protagonist goes up to Shrek, they ask him for a room to stay in for five nights, to which Shrek tells them that there is a room on the second floor.

The player then enters the door to the rooms and enters a mini room with three barrels in one corner. They then enter the door on the right side to the staircase, where Donkey's severed head will be mounted on the wall. They then climb up the staircase and come across another door, which leads them to the hotel suites. Additionally, there are two rugs on the hallway floor, a picture of an ogre on the wall, a vending machine, and a cabinet. Once the protagonist finds their room, they enter it which has a radiator, a shelf, and an old bed.

Before the protagonist goes to sleep, however, they had to go to the bathroom. They head back down to the main lobby and ask Shrek where the bathroom is. Shrek tells them where the bathroom is and they enter it, which has a sink with a mirror and a toilet. If you leave the bathroom door open when sitting in the toilet then shrek will peek out of the door and jumpscare and kill you. They sit on the toilet and do their business, then goes back to their room to go to sleep.

Night 2[]

The protagonist returns back to Shrek's hotel after their job. Shrek asks them where they have been, to which they explain the situation. Shrek then gives them the opportunity to clean around the hotel so he could pay them for their new house. First, he asks the protagonist to deliver three boxes he has upstairs to the storage closet. The protagonist one by one takes the boxes, goes upstairs, and enters the storage closet on the left side of the entrance to the suites. Inside the closet, there is also a huge pile of boxes, a broom, a barrel, and a rack of weapons.

Once the protagonist is done, Shrek thanks them and then they go to the bathroom before going back to sleep.

The protagonist then has a dream with Shrek with his back facing towards them at a table. A red light is shining on him and eerie tune is playing. As soon as the protagonist gets closer to Shrek, he will turn his head to face them and the nightmare will end.

Night 3[]

The protagonist returns to the hotel from work again. Shrek asks them how their night went and they say they had a nightmare. Shrek then asks them to go back to the storage closet to get the broom and clean the bathroom, which they do. They go back to the closet, get the broom, return to the main lobby and into the bathroom where they start cleaning.

Once they leave the bathroom, Shrek will be gone. There is a key on his desk which the player takes. They use it to unlock the door on the left side wall, which opens to reveal a room with a table similar to the one from their dream. On the table will be a note with a distorted text on it. They then return the broom to the closet, go back to their room, and go to sleep.

The protagonist has another dream. They wake up in the hotel, but it is red-pitched and a loud heartbeat sound can be heard. They leave their room and go down the hallway, which appears to be going in an endless loop. They will then hear a roaring noise as Shrek will be running at them from behind. They try to run away, but Shrek was too quick for them, and he attacks them.

Midnight 3[]

The protagonist wakes up from their dream and goes back down to the main lobby. There will also be a no walking sign in the room before the main lobby in front of the barrels. Once they enter the front lobby, Shrek asks them why they were up so late and they explain they had a nightmare and ask him where he was after they cleaned the bathroom. Shrek told them that he had to go do something and thanks them for cleaning the toilet, then tells them to go back to sleep. The protagonist then goes back to their room and goes to sleep.

Night 4[]

Once the protagonist returns home from work, the lights will be flickering in the main lobby and the ceiling fan will stop working. Additionally, Shrek will have a mad look on his face. The protagonist asks him what was wrong, to which Shrek replies that he has an issue with the lights. The protagonist then asks them if there was anything he wants them to do, to which he wants the protagonist to clean the bathroom again. Once the protagonist gets the broom from the closet and reenters the bathroom, however, they will see the corpse of a man lying in a pool of his own blood. Before they could escape, however, Shrek suddenly appears in the doorway and attacks them.

Night 5[]

The protagonist will wake up in the Backrooms with Shrek. Shrek gives the protagonist a challenge to collect 40 onions for him in one minute or else he would kill them. The protagonist then goes around the Backrooms collecting onions they find in every corner. Eventually, they run out of time and Shrek chases after them while they collect the remaining onions.

Once the protagonist collects all the onions, Shrek and the Backrooms will disappear, revealing a stairway leading to Heaven as an angelic choir plays. The creator thanks them for finishing the game and says if they enjoyed it, make sure to donate him on itch.io to develop his future games. However, Shrek will then suddenly appear with his eyes glowing red and laughing evilly as the creator says "If you don't...Shrek will send you to Jesus".

It is unknown what happened to the protagonist after the events of the game. It is implied that due to Shrek's appearance at the ending, Shrek killed or abducted the protagonist.

Alternate Ending[]

Instead of taking the boxes upstairs or getting the broom from the closet, the protagonist will grab a weapon from the weapon rack. Once they get back down to the lobby, they will stab Shrek with the weapon. They will then leave through the front door as the same angelic choir plays.

It is implied that the protagonist used Shrek's money to buy themselves a new house after the events of the game in this ending.

Secret[]

If the protagonist goes up to the picture of the ogre and turns it sideways, the sound of a door unlocking will be heard. They will then go to the only remaining door that is never opened throughout the entire game at the end of the hallway, revealing a red-tinted hallway with a light purple doorway at the end.

Once the protagonist enters that doorway, they will meet a bigger Shrek with red eyes dancing to funky techno music.

Deaths[]

• An ogre and Donkey were both decapitated by Shrek before the events of the game, as their severed heads are shown.
• The protagonist is killed by Shrek in their dream.
• Shrek presumably kills someone and hides their body in a barrel.
• Shrek kills a man in the bathroom.
• Shrek is stabbed by the player in the secret ending.

Trivia[]

• Although the game has been changed to Five Nights at Grek's Hotel due to copyright, the original game can still be played online here.
• Despite the title of the game, this game is not a fangame of Five Nights At Freddy's.
• A sequel would later be released.
  • This sequel confirms that the protagonist killing Shrek in the secret ending is not canon, as he is still seen alive.
