Once you have entered Hotel Letztes Jahr Lorelei And The Laser Eyes you'll find that there is much to see and explore, but a frustrating amount of it is blocked off or locked away. One of the first big puzzles you'll encounter is a set of five rooms that are locked tight and feature movie posters next to them.

Pretty early in Lorelei And The Laser Eyes you will obtain the Architect's Sketches. We show you how to use this document to get all the maps!
All of these rooms require four-digit codes to enter, they all have movie posters outside of them, and all of them contain a safe deposit box inside. This guide will take you through how to open each door, and help you crack open those safe deposit boxes as well.
Which poster is in front of which room is randomized. So, we can't just hand you the code for each lock, but we can walk you through how to find each answer.
Exploring The Hotel Letztes Jahr
When you first enter the hotel, you'll hear a man arguing with someone on the phone in the room to your left. You can't progress until he has finished his phone call, and he won't finish until you do a few things.
- Explore the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors of the hotel. You won't be able to go anywhere, but this seems to be one of the requirements.
- Read the notices on the corkboard in the reception area.
- Inspect the books piled up in the library.
- Enter into the cellar and read the Architect's Sketches.
- Return to the front entrance.
Once you have seen everything there is to see in the hotel, you will be greeted by Lorenzo. He'll say a number of cryptic things, and then leave. You will now be able to enter the side room with the phone. From there, go behind the receptionist's desk. Collect the letter. As it says "the year before", enter the date of the letter minus one as the combination. For us, that was 1962. This will give you the key to room 2014 on the third floor.
The primary purpose of doing this is so that you can obtain the dates for each movie, which will allow you to work out the combination for all the doors. Since we provide you with all the dates down below, you could avoid this step, but you won't be able to progress without doing this at some point, so you may as well do it now.

Head to Room 2014 by traveling up the stairs in the foyer to the second floor, and then taking a left and going up the stairs to the third floor. Once you have entered Room 2014, you can do a number of things. Enter into the side room on your right and analyze the map. This will be important later. You can also talk to the lady in the bed. She'll say some cryptic things that will be relevant later on in the game. What is relevant now, however, are all the empty movie boxes in the room to the left of the entrance. Look at each one, and you will obtain all the relevant information for each movie. Unsurprisingly, these covers are the key to getting inside those rooms with the movie posters!

This one doesn't have just one poster, it has two. In between the two posters is a picture of a little cross. Look the dates up for the two films that the posters are for, then add them together.
Example: We had Adieu Tbilisi (1950) and A Dog Like All Other Dogs (1957), so our passcode was 3907.
The Room Right Of The Foyer - First Floor
Safebox Room II

The poster is flipped and inverted here. So, we'll do the same thing for the date associated with the movie in question.
Example: We had Un Animale Terrible (1962), which means that the lock code was 2961 for us.
The Room To The Left Of The Stairs - First Floor
Safebox Room III

Once again, there are two posters here; or we should say there are two halves of two posters. The half of the poster you see will correspond to the first two, or last two, digits of the date.
Example: So, we had the right section of Automobile (1959) and the right section of Canzone dell'Oceano (1948). That means we simply had to put the last two digits of both together, giving us 5948.
The Room At The Top Of The Stairs - Second Floor
Safebox Room IV

As you can likely tell, the poster is backward. Take the date the associated movie was released, and enter it backward.
Example: For us, we had The Etymologist's Dream (1954) so we simply had to enter 4591 to open the door.
The Room Next To The West Foyer - Second Floor
Safebox Room V

Outside this room, you'll see a movie poster that has been divided into four sections. Next to it, you will see a lithograph that numbers the four quadrants. What you need to do is take the date found on the movie's cover and align it with the rearranged order of the poster's quadrants. That should get you the combination for the door's lock.
Example: We had The Ace of Hearts (1952). The third quadrant was in the first quadrant's place, the first quadrant was in the second quadrant's place, the fourth quadrant was in the third quadrant's place, and the fourth quadrant was in the third quadrant's place. Which means that our lock code was 5129.
